Beginners Woodturning Courses in Hampshire
Classes for those new to the lathe
Everyone starts somewhere. These classes assume nothing and build everything from the ground up.
You'll learn how to stand, how to hold the tools, how to read what the wood is telling you. More importantly, you'll learn why things work the way they do. Understanding comes before muscle memory.
By the end of any of these classes, you'll have made something real. Something you shaped yourself from a rough chunk of timber. That feeling never quite goes away.
Choosing between our courses:
What most people are asking is how much to commit before they know whether they enjoy woodturning.
The Pen Turning Experience is the shortest way in. On a Sunday morning, you go home with a pen in your pocket; The Woodturning Experience Day is the usual starting point. A full day, a pen in the morning and a bowl in the afternoon, which gives you a feel for both kinds of turning.
The Bowl Turning Experience is the one to book if bowls are what drew you in. A whole day given over to a single bowl.
Box Turning for Beginners goes after accuracy, since a lid that fits properly asks more of you than a bowl does. A little experience is advisable for this class, and The Two Day Beginners Class suits anyone who already suspects they will carry on. Two days, three finished pieces, and you take home the 60 page Workshop Companion along with the refresher videos.
