Pen Turning Experience

A Sunday morning at the lathe

A gentle introduction to woodturning in a relaxed Sunday morning session. You'll make a stunning British-designed roller ball pen, experiencing the basics of spindle work along the way.

Pen turning is precise, satisfying work. You'll shape the barrel, work to exact dimensions for the hardware, and finish with a polish that shows off the grain. By lunchtime, you'll have completed the pen and heading home with a great sense of satisfaction.

£80 per person | Sunday morning | Maximum 5 students

A perfect first taste of turning. Gift voucher recipients looking for something quick and satisfying. Anyone curious about the craft who can spare a Sunday morning. No experience needed.

Who is this Class for?

Your Tutor - Martin Saban-Smith RPT

Martin has been teaching turning wood since 2018, bringing a photographer's eye for proportion and form to the lathe. Martin’s teaching approach is patient, with room for questions, the understanding that mistakes are steps towards skill, and that learning is more process over perfection, community over competition.
