WOODTURNING: Learn to Turn A Box

Woodturning Boxes Class

Cost: £180.00 per person

Turning boxes (lidded pots) is satisfying work once you've got the basics down. The lid needs to fit properly, the proportions need to be right, and there are a few techniques that make the difference between something that works and something that doesn't.

This class is for turners with some experience — you'll need to be comfortable with basic cuts and working independently. If you've turned a bowl or two and want to try something more involved, this will suit you.

Over the course of the day, I'll guide you through:

  • Tool selection — which tools work best for boxes and why

  • Turning all the parts: body, lid, and getting them to fit

  • Back-hollowing and jam-chucking techniques

  • Decorating the piece if time allows

Groups are just four students — so there's plenty of time for individual guidance

Please Note: Some experience of woodturning is required for this course.
